The recently formed Tourism Development Company Limited (TDC) is mandated to manage and oversee all aspects of the Tourism sector in Trinidad and Tobago. Some of the responsibilities of the new organization are:

• The development and enhancement of tourism products.
• Establishing and implementing standards for the development and maintenance of tourism infrastructure and amenities.
• Establishment and implementation of standards for all identified tourist sites and attractions.
• Having exclusive responsibility for all elements of Tourism Marketing and Promotion.

It is via this exclusive responsibility for all elements of tourism marketing and promotion that the Tourism Development Company Limited is pleased to be associated with the Pan in Education project.

The Pan in Education project seeks to preserve and highlight the steel pan music of Trinidad and Tobago by recording, scoring and integrating the instrument and its music into the educational curricula at a national and international level through a two compact disc compilation.

This project compliments the initiative of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to use pan as a vehicle for implementing its music education programme in schools, and provides an invaluable resource for music literacy, arranging techniques and the performing arts. The Tourism Development Company Limited supports the use of this CD compilation which will be distributed throughout the 53 countries of the Commonwealth and beyond.

The Tourism Development Company Limited is pleased to be associated with the Ministry of Education, bp Trinidad and Tobago and Sanch Electronix Limited, along with several reputable arrangers and steel orchestras to archive the music of Trinidad and Tobago’s National Musical Instrument with the intention of using the CD compilation for educational purposes.
