The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago is the latest major benefactor of the cause ofThe Rainmakers. Their generous investment will help us to fulfil our mission of attending The Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in Austin, Texas from November 03 to 08. A cast of sixty Rainmakers’ musicians and dancers will perform the feature concert on the closing evening of that week.

Guardian Life of the Caribbean has provided group travel insurance. American Airlines, our carrier, afforded a special rate, along with three free tickets. Caribbean Money Market Brokers, Tucana Ltd and John Stewart contributed towards procurement of a new set of steelpan instruments and stands for Golden Hands Steel Orchestra. The Music Literacy Trust assisted with financing of The Rainmakers’ dual CD.

Distribution of Chip in de Rain branded polo shirts will commence by mid August. The new fund-raising CD, Under the Sapodilla Tree, is executively produced by Franka Hills-Headley for Golden Hands. It is based on recordings that I had done on that eventful Saturday afternoon last year, in their panyard. The CD will retail for TT$100.00/ US$16.00. Proceeds will be credited to the fund.

A 64-page commemorative magazine will be launched at the beginning of the new academic year in September. Its Foreword has been written by His Excellency, Professor George Maxwell Richards, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The main theme is youth development in the Caribbean.

Messages and advertorials have been scripted on sport, education, business, music and entrepreneurship by prominent persons from the region. These include Governor of the Central Bank, Minister of Education and former Olympic Gold Medallist Hasely Crawford. The publication is priced at TT$30.00/ US$5.00. Copies will be also distributed to schools. View our expanding catalogue at http://www.sanch.com/rainmakers.html

In order to create awareness and build hype for The Rainmakers, a prodigious advertising and marketing campaign will commence on August 04. A substantial portion of the financing of this initiative has been underwritten by CLICO. Our product offerings will be augmented during the forthcoming months. The dual CD will be launched at PASIC in November, and the project will officially climax with a concert at Queen’s Hall on March 01, 2009.
