ARTIST EMERITUS LEROY CLARKE’S PAINTING TO BE RAFFLED AT UWIAATT’S FUND RAISING VENTURE

St. Augustine - January 21, 2013: Patrons attending the University of the West Indies Alumni Association (UWIAATT) 25th anniversary fund-raiser Event, on February 17, 2013, would be afforded the opportunity to acquire a painting from one of the Caribbean’s renowned artists.

De Sermon, valued at TT$50k, is one of Mr. LeRoy Clarke’s signature works, which “depicts the scene of a ritual where a preacher is so intensely involved in his message that his congregation seems to overwhelm his presence, causing images to give in to a spiritual moment that gives the composition a kaleidoscopic appearance of a frenzy of rhythm, sound and movement - a ritualistic happening!” Raffle tickets will be priced at $30.00 and offered for purchase only on the day, at the Event.

Breakfast and Fashion Show with the U.W.I. Alumni would be the first of its kind and promises to be a spectacular occasion, with some of this country’s established fashion designers, as well as their upcoming colleagues displaying their 2013 collection.

The novel Event takes place at the spacious Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC), U.W.I. St. Augustine from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

This year marks two big occasions in Mr, Clarke’s life. On November 7th he would be celebrating his 75th birthday; 2013 is also his 50th year as a celebratory artist.

Speaking on Mr. Clarke’s illustrious career, executive producer Simeon Sandiford alluded to the fact that among the initial Pepperpot projects would be “archiving of LeRoy Clarke’s vast music collection on a state-of-the art music server with storage capacity of three Terabytes in full 24-bit resolution. This is roughly equivalent to eight thousand hours of playing time. As such, any student of LeRoy’s legacy would have instant access to the type of music that inspires his artistic genius” Sandiford said.

Ticket purchases would entitle patrons to the fashion show, a commemorative CD, a sumptuous Caribbean-style breakfast and live entertainment. A limited number, priced at TT$450.00 or US$75.00 are available. Interested persons are asked to visit the website www.sanch.com or contact Sanch Electronix Limited at 23 King Street, St. Joseph, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago: Telephone 868.663.1384; Fax 868.645.2205.
