RESURREXIT EARNS MONEY FOR CHARITY
In just under one year since its release in December 2003, the CD Resurrexit has provided upward of thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) from net proceeds of sales for Sacred Heart Traditional Choir to donate to charity.
On Sunday 28th November 2004, at its 12th Annual Candlelight Service held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Port of Spain, the Choir, through its Musical Director Ms Molly Guy and its Public Relations Officer, Ms. Mercedes La Borde presented ten thousand dollar ($10,000.00) cheques to the following charities:
§ Father Allan Ventour, Administrator General of the Cathedral /Sacred Heart Parish;
§ Ms. Yvette Woodruffe, Chief Executive Officer Saint Vincent de Paul Society; and
§ Ms. Rhonda Maingot co-founder of the Living Water Community.
The Choir thus fulfilled one of its twin objectives of posterity and charity as a result of the production of this rather unique and wonderful CD of Latin language church music of an earlier, kinder and gentler time.
Sanch Electronix Ltd. under whose label Resurrexit was produced and whose Managing Director, Mr. Simeon L.Sandiford named it, initially sponsored the CD. Colonial Life Insurance Company, through the instrumentality of Chairman Mr. Lawrence Duprey, later joined the sponsorship. The company lent its name and the C L. Financial corporate logo to the production and promotion of the product.
The album has performed way beyond expectations in terms of sales and demand up to this point in time.
Presently, through the kind assistance of Mr. Courtney Rodney, an international news correspondent and well-wisher, the Choir has received word from Latin Mass Societies around the world of the interest that the album has generated within their organizations. It is hoped and prayed that a substantial order for copies of the music will soon come from these sources.
Should this occur, it would certainly ensure and guarantee a generous contribution to the Archdiocese Hurricane Relief Fund, the current charity from among a number of others, the Choir plans to help in due course.
